Indie Book Promo is happy to welcome Arlene Taylor to the blog! She’s here to answer some questions about herself and her book, Rescued. If this sounds like a book that you would be interested in reading, please use the buy links at the bottom of the post to pick up a copy.
IBP – Try to describe your book in one sentence.
Arlene – A romance unbound, that will take you from the sultry bayous of New Orleans to the sexy and sophisticated streets of London.
IBP - How would my friends describe me in 20 words or less?
Arlene – Arlene is a witty and loyal friend, who is always willing to lend an ear.
IBP – State a random fact about yourself that would surprise your readers.
Arlene – I’m a violinist
IBP – What’s your current guilty pleasure?
Arlene – Merlin. No one I know likes it and they love to poke fun at me for watching it. However every fall on Saturday I’m front and center loving every second of that show!
IBP – What’s your favorite part of writing a book?
Arlene – I love the ending. You’ve worked hard and created a story and now that it’s finished you can enjoy where went.
IBP – Do you see yourself in any of your characters?
Arlene – I do. I also see a lot of my sisters and close friends in them as well. I suppose it’s a subconscious thing I do when I’m writing.
IBP – Did you do any research before start or during of the writing of the books?
Arlene – My research began in the middle of my book. I wanted to give the reader a genuine experience. The places the two main characters are from and go are so rich with history it would have been a large mistake on my part not to explore them and portray them truthfully. Research was a vital part in getting it right.
IBP – What book is currently on your nightstand?
Arlene – It, by Stephen King.
IBP - How important do you find the communication between you and your readers? Do you reply to their messages or read their reviews?
Arlene – I truly love hearing from readers. There is nothing that can make an author happier at least in my opinion. When someone writes you and tells you that they love a story or even hate it you tend to grow from the experience.
IBP - Do you ever run into someone who says “You write WHAT?”
Arlene – I have just recently. My neighbor saw my book in my sister’s hand and asked about it, he is an avid reader. When my sister told him it was a romance he was not interested. When she told him I wrote it. “You write WHAT?!” was his exact reaction.
IBP – What projects are you currently working on right now? Would you mind sharing them with us?
Arlene – I always wanted to write a trilogy and Rescued will be part of a three part series. Right now I’m working on The Wedding due out this December it will feature Jasper and Margaret.
Blurb
The fire that burned when they were together was consuming.
Her whole life Amelia was told what to do obediently following the rules her domineering aunt set forth. Right down to letting the woman choose the man she was to marry. However this was about to change because from the moment she laid eyes on Jordan Bradford the shy young maid was lost. But loving a man like him was beyond dangerous for more than the obvious reasons. However Amelia found herself throwing caution to the wind and willing to risk everything for just one kiss.
Intriguing and honest Jordan was drawn to Amelia instantly. Shy and witty Jordan knows that deep down there is a woman just waiting to be set free if only those around her would let her. Still he knew pursuing her was not an option. And even if it was she was already promised to another man. Yet every time she was near that knowledge was lost to him. Wasn’t forbidden fruit always sweeter? It was an added luxury that whenever he was in her presence his past seemed just that, the past. Just one look and a flame long though extinguished was awakened in him. So much so that Amelia was a woman Jordan decided needed to be rescued.
